M.E.L.T
- (Investigator Edition) For Security
Applications
The Investigator edition
serves to helps private and government organizations
with valuable intelligence to prevent insider threats,
improve background screening, more rapidly manage security
clearances and perform intelligent investigations for
law enforcement, homeland border/customs processing,
military and anti-terror operations. The software is
language neutral which allows it to analyze conversations
in any language.
The Investigator editions
can perform real time analysis during face-to-face or
over-the-phone conversations as well as in-depth analysis
of pre-recorded audio/video. The software can also be
modified for usage on smartphones or other devices to
perform covert analysis of conversations. Other security
versions include Human Access Control and Intelligence
Voice Analyzer. Human Access Control
(HAC) version is for usage in airports, government
facilities, prisons and checkpoints.
Intelligence Voice Analyzer (IVA) version is available
for intelligence communities (IC) or other agencies
involved in national security analysis.
Investigator
versions
M.E.L.T utilizes over 18 vocal parameters and thousands
of mathematical processes to accurately analyze your
subject's state-of-mind in a professional and discreet
manner. The Investigator edition is an innovative, highly
advanced, sophisticated software system that is specifically
designed to provide the professional user easy access
to truth verification and emotion identification.
The Investigator system is a combination of three different
tools:
- Online
Mode - Real-time, quick and immediate
analysis during an open-ended interview.
- Offline
Mode - In-depth analysis of pre-recorded
audio or video.
- Investigation Mode - for a pre-defined closed-ended
question analysis relating to a specific issue. It
is similar to the questions used for traditional polygraph
examinations and uses the same techniques (i.e. CQT,
POT, etc.)
The Investigator uses "psychological patterns"
not micro-tremors for detection as well as three different
and independent equations. These equations distinguish
between stress resulting from excitement and any other
emotional stress. Distinctions are also made between
confusion and other cognitive or global stress resulting
from the circumstances surrounding the issue being discussed.
It also distinguishes between "acceptable levels"
of stress and between stresses emanating from attempts
at deception.
The Investigator detects levels of tension, rejection,
fear, embarrassment and attempts to outsmart or answer
cynically. It also measures the subject's level of thinking.
It also measures the willingness of the subject to answer
in the relatively new Stop or Say (S.O.S) parameter.
Using Deception Patterns, it can achieve the highest
accuracy rate, in detecting deceptions, compared to
other software/hardware solutions.
Human
Access Control version (HAC)
Recent terror attacks have shown that the rules of
game have changed, and that terrorists willingness to
lose their own lives has made deterrence and prevention
significantly more complicated. The search for concealed
weapons, explosives and sharp objects is no longer sufficient.
We are now compelled to examine not only what the subjects
are carrying, but to discover their motivations in advance.
HAC is a security access control system, providing
an easy to use voice analysis solution to determine
if the purpose of the access is legitimate. HAC provides
instant
security verification and threat assessment before allowing
access to high-risk facilities and secured and sterile
zones.
For border control scenarios customs officials encounter
travelers with diverse emotional conditions that are
not associated with criminal intent, e.g. exhausted
travelers, or excited vacationers. The HAC system is
able to categorize these different emotional structures
by learning to identify the ones that signal real intent
to commit a crime as well as terrorist activity.
HAC operation
A series of 3 to 5 specific questions are presented
to the subject. The response to each question is recorded
and analyzed automatically by the system and once the
questionnaire has been completed (up to 60 seconds for
a full 5 question questionnaire), HAC will produce a
result: either "Green" or "Red",
indicating to what degree the subject fits the expected
emotional profile.
HAC can go far beyond any other physical security
equipment that is currently available. Combining HAC
with traditional metal detectors and sniffers to further
tighten security. HAC is constructed to ensure the highest
reliability in the detection of threats, using three
independent algorithms to ensure that each result is
verified:
"Extreme Behavior" indicator to flag any
unknown rare emotional profile that unless detected,
may result in catastrophic consequences while "Green"
individuals are processed swiftly, "Red" subjects
receive further attention and are forwarded to a secondary
LVA / HAC station for further and additional examination.
At this point, the subjects are either fully cleared
or detained for a more in-depth inspection.
Potential Applications
- Airport check-in, airplane boarding kiosks
- Customs checkpoints, border controls
- Prison contraband detection efforts
- Government building access and exits
- Public transportation facilities
Advantages
- No gender, orientation, age or other means of profiling
- Determines criminal / wrongful intent in less than
60 seconds in a non-intrusive manner
- Works in tandem with additional security measures
to deliver an efficient, non-intrusive and user-friendly
technique for threat identification
- Reduces unnecessary inconvenience to the legitimate
public
- Learns emotional patterns using a heuristic system
to constantly improve accuracy
Intelligent
Voice Analyzer version (IVA)
IVA is a powerful intelligence tool,
designed to automatically flag "interesting"
calls. As a part of protecting the national security
or homeland missions. Authorized Intelligence agencies
analyze millions of phone calls. Many of these calls
contains no relevant information and analyzing them
can take lots of manpower, precious time and resources.
IVA allows for a more efficient usage of time allowing
for analysts to review calls that containing valuable
information.
IVA is designed to analyze and flag
calls, which contain relevant information, and to put
a priority flag on each of them. IVA uses a sophisticated
"Emotion-Profiler" to detect the mental state
of the callers, as well as the scanning for "hot
buzz words" ("dictionaries"). This version
is only sold to law enforcement or intelligence agencies.
